The Outreach Committee work are is a vital link between an increasingly needy world and our congregation.  Our task is to alert the congregation to the needs of God's mission in the world and how it is possible to participate in that mission.  Our congregation has responded with prayer, concern, finances, time, talent and especially faith and love.

Locally, we support the Smithtown Food Pantry.  Food is collected each month and our church staffs the Pantry with volunteer workers for 1 month about twice a year.  Other activities we support are Bread for the World, Habitat for Humanity, and the Catherine O'Neill Inn.  We sponsor a missionary couple through the General Board of Global Ministries.

In cooperation with the Long Island Council of Churches, Smithtown United Methodist Church joins with other Smithtown area Protestant churches to support three local blood drives each year.  Even if you cannot donate, help is always needed with advertising, recruiting, and childcare.

The Outreach Committee promotes United Methodist Special Offerings and special recognition of Native American Awareness Sunday.
